Macedonians voted in favour of changing name of country

Macedonians have overwhelmingly voted in favour of changing name of the country to North Macedonia.

Voting was aimed to end a decades-long spat with Greece and to unlock a path to NATO and EU membership.

According to the electoral commission's official count, 91.3 percent of votes cast favoured the name changing to North Macedonia.

The European Union, NATO and the United States have welcomed the decision.
