Justice demanded for Kashmiris killed in 2010 uprising

Srinagar, December 31, 2012 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly and leader of Communist Party of India (Marxist), Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, has said that the Kashmiri people still await answers for what happened to the Indian troops and policemen involved in the killing of around 120 civilians in 2010 even after the passage of two years.

Addressing a party convention in Islamabad, Tarigami said, “Not a single case out of these civilian killings has reached to any logical conclusion and in most of these cases the families of victims are facing secondary victimization at the hands of administration.”

On the magisterial inquires, commissions of inquiries or judicial probes ordered in the occupied territory, Tarigami said that the fact of the matter was that the practice had lost its meaning. In a way, these probes and inquires have become a handy weapon to cool down tempers and buy time after the innocent civilian killings, he added.
