Islamabad: Japan has shown its willingness to provide both technical and economic assistance in supporting the spread of science education in Pakistan. A meeting of the Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency Hiroshi Oe and Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mir Changez Khan Jamali was held here at minister’s office, Islamabad.
During the course of the meeting, Mr. Jamali apprised His Excellency Hiroshima Oe about different projects and initiatives launched by his ministry to make progress in the field of science and education.
Both sides discussed ways of mutual cooperation to improve the quality of primary and higher education in Pakistan particularly in promoting the education of science subjects. The minister said that the spread of education was the best way to stave off the threat of extremism and terrorism. They also discussed ways to cope with the challenge of energy crisis in Pakistan. Mr. Hiroshi Oe said that Pakistan has a great potential to pursue solar and wind energy projects to meet its energy demands. Mr. Jamali said that Japan can assist Pakistan in transforming the sector of science and technology particularly in the field of energy and electronics through technical assistance.
Both sides also committed themselves to expedite the process of exchanging students, researchers, technical experts and to collaborate effectively in the domain of advanced scientific education. Mr. Jamali also expressed the desire to share Japanese experience of economic growth through simulating innovations in science and technology and by reforming science based institutions.
