Islamabad: Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan, Federal Minister for Communications, who is on an official visit to Tajikistan since 08 August 2011, visited Ishkashim, Tajikistan. This is a border city from where the road between Pakistan and Tajikistan from Chitral is planned. Along with his Tajik counterpart, Mr. Hakimov Nizom, Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan had an aerial view of the site and the connecting bridges between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, says a press release received here today from Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Minister Arbab Alamgir visited Khorog, capital of Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO) and the first big city on the planned route from Ishkashim to Dushanbe. He met with Mr. Qodiri Qosim, Governor of GBAO and exchanged views on road connectivity between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
The Minister also visited School of Professional and Continuing Education of the University of Central Asia, Serena Inn, Park Chorbogh and the Pamir Energy Town. These projects have been funded and are being run by the Aga Khan Foundation.
The Minister for Communications invited Tajik Minister of Transport to visit Pakistan. They agreed to form an Experts’ Working Group to speed up the process of feasibility study and to proceed on its implementation after the concurrence of Afghan authorities.
