Terrorists arrested with huge cache of deadly weapons

Islamabad: Islamabad Police have arrested two alleged terrorists and recovered huge cache of deadly weapons from a vehicle and raid at house during search in `Chata Bakhtawar’ in the area of Shahzad town police station.

Following the directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik, security was put on high alert in the city and police officials were directed to maintain high vigilance. In compliance of these directions, special security arrangements were made at inner and outer cordon of the city including rural areas.

A police team constituted by SP (Rural) Faisal Bashir Memon and DSP Shehzad town Khursheed Ahmed Khan and headed by Sub-Inspector Muhammad Lateef was performing duty along with other four policemen at `Taramri Chowk’ when they signalled to stop a suspected vehicle.

The occupant of the vehicle tried to speed away after seeing the police team but the policemen managed to stop it after a brief chase. On search of the car, police recovered two missiles, one suicide jacket and two hand grenades besides arresting the car occupant and impounding the vehicle (Peshawar, N 3179).

During preliminary investigation from the nabbed accused, police got important clues and IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik constituted a special raiding team under the supervision of SP (Rural) Faisal Bashir Memon and DSP Khursheed Khan. This team raided at House No.254, Street No.2 in `Chatta Bakhtawar’ and recovered huge cache of deadly arms from there.

Police recovered a total of 90 brain paralyzing injections, four suicide jackets, 12 hand grenades, 16 rocket fuses and 14 missiles (106 , 107-R) and nabbed a person during raid.

Investigation is underway from the nabbed persons and police are hopeful to get further important information from them.

IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik have appreciated this performance and directed to further intensify vigilance in various areas. They termed this recovery of huge cache of weapons as great success and said Islamabad Police will leave no stone un-turned to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens.

The IGP said that Islamabad Police is very much alert and nefarious designs of terrorist elements will be foiled. He said that Islamabad Police have been saved from a great disaster through these recoveries.
