Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa will take oath as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan on June 29

Islamabad, June 22, 2017 (PPI-OT):Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will be proceeding to perform Umrah on 28.06.2017. Therefore, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Senior Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan will take oath as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan on 29.06.2017 and will act as Chief Justice of Pakistan during the period Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Chief Justice of Pakistan remains abroad.

Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa takes oath as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan

Islamabad, June 05, 2017 (PPI-OT):Hon’ble Mr. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa has taken oath as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan. The oath was administered by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan in a simple but dignified ceremony in the Supreme Court, Islamabad today i.e. 05.06.2017. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa will act as Chief Justice of Pakistan during the period, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Chief Justice of Pakistan remains abroad.

The ceremony was attended by Judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Attorney General for Pakistan, Advocate General Islamabad, Senior Lawyers and Law Officers. Arbab Muhammad Arif, Registrar, Supreme Court, conducted the proceedings of oath taking ceremony. Officers and staff of the Supreme Court of Pakistan were also present at the occasion.

Delegation of Turkish Judiciary calls on Chief Justice of Pakistan

Islamabad, May 25, 2017 (PPI-OT):A delegation of Turkish Judiciary headed by Mr. Musa Hebet, High Rank Judge, Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and comprising other delegates Mr. Muhsin Senturk, Mr. Hanefi Keskin, Mr. Seyfettin Tuncer, and Mr. Sanver Keles, High Rank Judges of the Supreme Court of Cassation, Mr. Omer Faruk Aydiner, Deputy Chief Prosecutor, Mr. Mehmet Tavfik Elmas and Mr. Zekeriya Samanci, High Rank Judges of the Court of Appellate, Mr. Mustafa Alcik, Head of Heavy Criminal Court, Mr. Ilker Kocyigit, Head of Trade Court, Mr. Gokhan Karakose, Head of the Projects and International Relations of the Justice Academy of Turkey and Mr. Ahmet Takci, Judge called on the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and the Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court in Islamabad today i.e. 25.05.2017.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan and Hon’ble Judges welcomed the delegation and discussed issues of mutual interest. The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan expressed the hope that judiciaries of both the countries can benefit by sharing experience and knowledge. His lordship also gave the delegation an insight into the judicial system of Pakistan. Members of the delegation thanked the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan as well as the Hon’ble Judges for their hospitality and sparing time to receive them.

The delegation also visited the Supreme Court Museum where detailed briefing was given to them about the judicial history of Pakistan. In the end, the delegation presented souvenir to Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan as token of respect and gesture of goodwill. The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan also reciprocated the gesture by presenting a memento on the occasion.

Chief Justice of Pakistan takes notice of abuse of power by a Feudal Lord in Umerkot

Islamabad, May 05, 2017 (PPI-OT): The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken notice of abuse of power by a feudal in Umerkot Sindh and immediate release of culprits. The notice was taken on media reports that Nawab Zaid Talpur along with co-accused forcibly entered into Police Station, Kunri, District Umerkot and humiliated and maltreated the Station House Officer (SHO). Reportedly Nawab Zaid Talpur demanded the SHO to sit on the ground and speak to him, while he sat on the chair of SHO. Accused persons were arrested but later on they were released owing to alleged political intervention. Taking notice of the matter, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan has called report from IGP, Sindh within five days.
