Sui Southern Gas Company Limited marks the advent of Ramadan with a blissful event

Karachi, May 26, 2017 (PPI-OT):In keeping with a well-entrenched tradition, SSGC organized an ‘Istaqbal-e-Ramadan’ program to mark the advent of one of the holiest months of the year. The program, held at the Company’s Head Office auditorium on May 25, 2017, featured Allama Dr. Kokab Noorani, a famous Islamic scholar and orator as the keynote speaker.

In his thought provoking speech, Allama Noorani reiterated that Ramadan provides Muslims with a perfect opportunity to cleanse their sins and start afresh. He said that the true spirit of Ramadan lies in practicing religious tolerance, patience and empathy for fellow human beings. Another highlight of this program was reputed Naat Khawan Syed Khaled Hussain’s heartfelt renditions which were greatly admired by the large audience consisting of SSGC’s top management, executives and staff.

In order to add a different flavour to this annual event, the organizers, SSGC’s Corporate Communication Department, invited Yogi Wajahat, a renowned celebrity yoga expert who provided interesting meditation tips to the audience especially from the context of Ramadan. He stressed that yoga provides great benefits in terms of building flexibility and strength, not just for the body, but also the mind.

Shahbaz Islam, Head of Corporate Communications, thanked the guests for making the program a success. Company employees including its top management and executives and staff attended the program. The program concluded on a heartfelt Dua for the prosperity of Pakistan and SSGC.

At the end of the event, Asim Murtaza, Project Director LGs, Amir Mumtaz Khan Acting Senior General Manager GS) and Nisar A. Shaikh Acting Senior General Manager (D-North) presented esteemed guests with Company souvenirs as a token of appreciation. This program was conducted gracefully by Muhammad Ali Gohar Chief Manager (Media Relations). As a customary gesture, the audience was presented with a packet of dates as they exited the auditorium.

Sui Southern Gas Company Limited Gas Pipeline completely restored after Sabotage Incident at Manghopir

Karachi, May 18, 2017 (PPI-OT):This is with reference to a sabotage activity by unknown miscreants that took place on SSGC’s 16”dia gas pipeline near Madinat-ul-Hikmat at the crossing of Hub Naddi in Manghopir area on May 17, 2017 at around 8:00 pm, which was caused by an IED device. SSGC’s teams from the Company’s Distribution and Security Services Departments immediately rushed to the site of the blast for isolating the area and to start the repair work on the damaged portion of the pipeline in the shortest possible time.

Bomb Disposal Squad facilitated SSGC teams and cleared the site at around 03.00 am. Approximately 50 feet long pipe was badly damaged due to blast that had to be fully replaced. A number of technical activities were performed by the teams including spool fabrication and cold cutting.

After the continuous and restless efforts by SSGC teams, the damaged pipeline was repaired / replaced within the stipulated time at around 3:30 pm today. This is to be noted that gas supply to the areas in the vicinity of the affected pipeline had continued without any interruption and the only area that was not receiving gas supply due to the incident i.e. Sultanabad was restored at 03:30 pm.

An FIR of the incident has been lodged at Manghopir Police Station under Section 7 ATA (Anti-terrorism Act) against the unknown miscreants. The cooperation of media, local administration, Sindh Police, Pakistan Rangers Sindh and HQ-5 Corps Karachi with SSGC’s teams has been admirable in this regard.
