Supreme Court of Pakistan disposes 171 cases in a week

 

Islamabad, December 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed of 171 cases whereas 172 new cases have been instituted during the period from Saturday 22nd December 2012 to Friday 28th December 2012. The backlog remains 20143.

The backlog in the apex Court on 22nd December 2012 was 20142 cases. As 172 new cases were instituted during the period from Saturday 22nd December 2012 to Friday 28th December 2012, the progressive total of pending cases as on 28th December 2012 comes to 20314 cases. Out of these, 171 cases were disposed of during the period from Monday 24th December 2012 to Friday 28th December 2012; the backlog remains 20143 cases.

The Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court are on winter vacations, however, the two Hon’ble Benches are working one at Principle Seat Islamabad and one at Karachi during the winter vacations. This figure of disposal pertains to two Benches.
