Islamabad: The Korean government has announced donation of USD 200,000/- worth of relief aid (tents, water purifiers and blankets) for flood relief fund of the government. Air lifting of the donations has already been started.
The detail of flood donations from South Korea is as follows: South Korean company Lotte Pakistan/ KP Chemical has donated Rs 5 million to Pakistan. Kolson Food, of Lotte has also donated foodstuff worth Rs 6 million. And POSCO private LTD would also donate USD 100,000/- worth of relief material.
Pakistan Business Association (PBA) has also transferred 4 Million Korean Won (some USD 3,400/-) to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund 2011. Earlier, around USD 1,500/- were collected through Seoul Central Mosque’s appeal during the prayer hours.
To collect the donations from South Korean business community, a fund raising dinner for the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund for flood affectees was held at “Mughal” restaurant, Itaewon, Seoul. Per person participation was 100,000/- Korean Won (around 90 USD). USD 5,000/- were collected through the entry fee for the dinner. Lotte Group, Lotte E and C, Lotte Chilsung, KP Chemical, KOSPO, SK Lubricants, Daewoo E and C, K-Water, Hyundai E and C, Hyundai Engineering, Agro Fisheries and Trade (AT) Korea and Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated. KOSPO presented a cheque of USD 10,000/- in the Fund Raising Dinner.
