Karachi, February 04, 2015 (PPI-OT): Today on 4th February, 2015 Special Security Unit (SSU) Sindh Police organized a Public Awareness Seminar on Cancer. The objective behind organizing seminar was to provide information to general public and SSU commandos regarding cancer, its prevention and to be a part of this world by celebrating cancer day.
World Cancer day is marked on February 4 and is celebrated all over the world. Its aim is to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment. The primary goal of the World Cancer Day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer by 2020.
Dr. Asghar H Asghar Consultant Oncologist and Professor Dr. Bushra Wasim General Surgeon were the guest speakers of the seminar. They informed that cancer is silent killer which can reduce 13 years of life. Smoking, eating junk food, obesity and lack of physical activity are the main causes of cancer. Dr. Bushra discussed the causes and prevention of breast cancer. For early detection of breast cancer she offered free mammogram of SSU lady commandos.
This seminar was organized on the instructions of Lt. (R) Maqsood Ahmed AIGP Security Sindh head of Special Security Unit in his efforts to educate police force and to create a healthy force to combat terrorism. His Promise of Peace and Vision 2020 are the only way through which peace can be achieved and terrorism can be eliminated. Educated, trained and healthy police force is the demand of the day. He also offered free of cost Hostile Environment Awareness Training (H.E.A.T.) to doctors and medical professionals.
