Rural development training useful for youth, says Minister


Islamabad, February 19, 2013 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Education and Training, Sheikh Waqas Akram said in a meeting with D.G CIRDAP(Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific ) that training workshops in the field of rural development will encourage the youth to have a diverse experience in this sector.

The DG, CIRDAP along with NCRD launched a horizontal learning programme w.e.f.18-to 21 Feb, 2013. It is a Pakistan-specific programme in which participants from different departments, NGO,s fresh graduates, and representatives of the Social and Community Services have been invited. Two resource persons having wide experience in the field of water and sanitation have also been invited.

The D.G CIRDAP said that was the second workshop that CIRDAP was holding. The first workshop was held in Iran. The workshop will impart training to 36-particpants including 06 from FATA. Modern and latest techniques would be used to impart training to the participants.

The Federal Minister thanked the visiting D.G CIRDAP and said the Ministry of Education and Training would encourage such programs to be held in the future in collaboration with NCRD he added that such program would be beneficial for those working in the filed of rural development.

The Minister also on this occasion presented a shield to the visiting guest.
