Road accidents claim 967 lives in IHK this year

Srinagar, December 24, 2012 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, road accidents have claimed 967 lives this year. As many as 967 people were killed and 8,305 injured in road accidents in the territory till October-end this year, say official statistics. A total of 1120 people were killed and 10,108 injured in 6,644 road accidents in the territory last year as compared to 1042 dead and 8709 injured in 6136 accidents during 2010.

The rising incidents of deaths in road accidents are attributed towards authorities’ concentration on suppression of freedom movement and their dwindling interest in construction and widening of the road infrastructure in the territory.
