Prime Minister Gilani greets the newly elected Prime Minister of Thailand

Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has greeted the new elected Prime Minister of Thailand Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra in signed letter of felicitations today. The letter states:

“I have great pleasure on conveying on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan and on my own behalf, our heartfelt felicitations on your election as the Prime Minister of Thailand. We extend our best wishes for Thailand’s continued progress and prosperity under your able leadership.

We, in Pakistan, attach special significance to the fact that Your Excellency have become the first women Prime Minister of Thailand. In our own history, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto made her mark as the first women Prime Minister of Pakistan, and indeed ion the entire Muslim world, and made an invaluable contribution. We pray that all your efforts for the uplift and betterment of the people of Thailand are crowned with success.

Pakistan and Thailand share deep-rooted historical and cultural bonds and have always enjoyed cordial and cooperative relations. We intend to transform this relationship into a strong partnership of mutual benefit in all fields of common interest. I look forward to working closely with Your Excellency to advance this goal and to further deepen Pakistan-Thailand relations to the benefit to our two countries and the region”.
