People urged to adhere to protest colander programmes

Srinagar, February 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, people of Kashmir would observe complete shutdown on Friday against the illegal hanging of Mohammad Afzal Guru and would raise a united voice for the return of the mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru to the Kashmiris. This was stated by the Acting Chairman of JKLF, advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt in a press statement on Thursday.

Urging people to adhere to the programs of Muttahida Majlis Mashawarat in this regard, he said that on Saturday people would also flutter red Ribbons on their business establishments, shops and vehicles as a mark of protest.

“Our protest against the tyrant approach of Indians and refusal in handing over the dead bodies of Mohammad Maqbool Butt and Mohammad Afzal Guru will also continue,” he added.

He strongly condemned the spree of arrests, continued imprisonment of leaders including JKLF leader Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi and use of brutal force to suppress people’s voice.

Meanwhile, JKLF will organize a candle lit protest sit in on Saturday at Madina Chowk Gawkadal. The protest will be held as a show of solidarity with prisoners especially the lifers languishing in different jails. The protest sit in program was announced last month.

The JKLF also expressed condolences on the sad demise of father of renowned photojournalist Javed Ahmad Dar and prayed for his soul.
