Pakistan’s envoy in Japan attends launching ceremony of movie filmed in Pakistan


Islamabad, February 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): While speaking on the occasion of launching of the film “Chair on the Grass”, Ambassador of Pakistan in Tokyo, Farrukh Amil said it would help strengthen the bonds between the people of Pakistan and Japan. The film, a powerful art form, would build bridges. On the occasion the Ambassador presented bouquets to the director and actors of the film at a theatre in Ginza, Tokyo, says a press release received here today from Tokyo.

He said that the film was an excellent example of cultural understanding between the two societies. He hoped that the film would win many International Awards in future. It may be recalled that this is the first ever major film shot in Pakistan by Japanese film makers.

The Director of the film said it was “wonderful” to work in Pakistan and he was hoping that the film will be received well in Japan. It was hoped that it would be screened in major film festivals in the coming year, i.e. Venice, Cannes, Berlin, Edinburgh and Sundance etc. It will be screened at PNCA, Islamabad on 28 February, 2013.

Speaking on the occasion – the famous film stars in Japan, Mr. Koichi Sato, Mr. Masahiko Nishimura and Ms. Michiko Kichise termed the Hunza Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan as “a soul healing valley.” They called upon the Japanese people to “visit this valley” where they would seek the “peace of mind and soul.” Mr. Sato said that he was “swept away by the children of Pakistan, how happy, loving and welcoming they were in all their innocence and exuberance.” Mr. Nishimura commented on the grandeur and beauty of Hunza and said that he wanted to visit Pakistan again. Ms. Michiko said that the “diamond-like night sky constellation”, the Milky Way and “the shooting star” were all so breath-taking.

At the following reception, the Ambassador met the President of the major film production company Toei International along with other leading film industry executives and celebrities.
