Islamabad: Mrs. Amna Imran Khan, a D.M.G, Officer was conferred the knighthood of “Ordre National du Merite” by President Nicholas Sarkozy of France. The award was conferred upon the officer for distinguished and extra ordinary services rendered for strengthening and promoting cooperation between the Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan and France.
The “Ordre National du Merite” (National Order of Merit) is an order of state awarded by the President of the French Republic. The award is mostly meant for French Nationals, but in very rare cases is awarded to foreigners.
It is a matter of great honour and pride for Pakistan, that an International Award has been conferred upon a lady officer who belongs to the elite District Management Group, by the President of France. It is a source of inspiration for the females of Pakistan that a lady officer was conferred this award for outstanding services in the field of Law Enforcement.
The Ambassador of France, Daniel Jouanneau hosted an impressive award ceremony at the Embassy of France for conferring this award on Mrs. Amna Imran Khan,
The ceremony was attended by the elite of the city including Parliamentarians, Diplomats, Senior Civil Servants, Business Entrepreneurs, law Enforcement Officers, Journalists and prominent members of the Civil Society including family members and friends.
Prominent among the guests were Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain former Prime Minister, Begum Naseem Akhter Chaudhry, Chairperson Standing Committee of National Assembly on Law and Justice, High Commissioner of Australia Mr. Tim George and his elegant wife Geraldine, Chaudhry Qamar Zaman former Secretary Interior, Mr. Farhat Ullah Babar, Spokesperson to the President of Pakistan and other great luminaries.
The Ambassador of France lauded the outstanding services of Mrs. Amna Imran Khan and appreciated the dynamic manner in which she performed her duties for pioneering a wide range of programmes for capacity building of the Law Enforcement Agencies and Civil Armed Forces of Pakistan with the assistance of the French Authorities. The Ambassador in his speech highlighted the rich experience of the officer in her capacity as a public servant including her postings as Public Relations Officer with Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Assistant Commissioner, Islamabad, Abbottabad, Deputy Director, Anti Narcotics force, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Joint Secretary to Prime Minister of Pakistan etc. He praised the District Management Group as an elite service and referred to it as the back bone of the Civil Service of Pakistan, and as the service which provides some of the best civil servants to the country.
It is indeed a singular honour for Pakistan that one of its young and bright Civil Servant, has acquired international recognition by being conferred with such prestigious award for public service.
This is a trend setter for other young officers to emulate and to strive for excellence in performing their duties as Civil Servants.
