Rawalpindi: Pakistan and Turkey enjoy excellent bilateral Defence relations, and the role of Defence attachés is to continue fostering these by identify potential avenues of interest. This was stated by Secretary Defence, Syed Athar Ali (Retd), while talking to the outgoing Defence attaché of Turkey, Captain (N) Levent Kerim, who called on the Secretary along with the new attaché in his office in the Ministry of Defence today. Secretary Defence appreciated the contributions made by Captain (N) Levent Kerim during his tenure in Islamabad. He also commended the role and support of Turkish government and the good wishes of the Turkish people during the recent floods and earthquake in Pakistan.
Secretary Defence expressed that both the countries were engaged in joint Defence cooperation, like joint exercises, training and negotiating exchange of modern military hardware. However, there is still lot of potential in enhancing the same. The outgoing attaché lauded the support and cooperation being given to him during his stay in Islamabad, and extended good wishes for government and military forces of Pakistan.
