Pakistan Embassy in Berlin Participates in International Open Day: 2011

Islamabad: German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) organized an International Open Day to commemorate 50 years of its establishment. About 50 Embassies based in Berlin including Pakistan participated in the day long events. All the embassies setup their stall/information booths showcasing traditional items of their respective countries, says a press release received here today from Berlin, Germany.

Pakistan Embassy put up a Stall/Information Booth decorated with Pakistani Flag and traditional items of embroidered clothes, accessories, tapestries and handicrafts including footballs and cutlery items besides Books and Brochures on Pakistan. A replica of genuine leather football which was played in the European Championship final in Bern in 1954 was also put on display. It generated a lot of interest among the visitors.

The German state Secretary for Economic Cooperation and Development Mr. Haus-Juergen Beerfeltz inaugurated the exhibition and took a round of stalls. During his visit to Pakistani Stall Mr. Beerfeltz took a keen interest in various handmade items from Pakistan and appreciated the craftsmanship of the people. Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany Mr. Shahid Kamal congratulated the members of Pakistan Embassy for presenting Pakistani traditional items showcasing Pakistani Culture in a decent way.

Visitors belonging to Germany and International Community, especially the women folk took a keen interest in items like traditional dresses of bride and bridegroom, embroidered bags and pouches. Visitors of Pakistani Stall were also served with Samosas, Pakoras with Podina Chatni and they were appreciative of spicy taste of Pakistani food.

Painting competition among the children of all ages and music performance by artists of various countries were other attractions of the event.

German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Mr. Dirk Niebel in his speech at the conclusion of the event thanked the participating embassies and expressed hope that the relations in the economic field among Germany and other countries would continue to grow for the benefit of people of all the nations of the world.
