Islamabad: A Fund raising event for the flood victims in Pakistan was held by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Pakistan International School Azizia, Jeddah last night. Speaking on the occasion the Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Abdul Salik Khan said that Pakistani community in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always stood with their Pakistani brothers whenever they were in trouble, and urged them to come forward to help the flood victims in Southern Pakistan.
He said that the intensity of floods in Sindh was enormous that has inundated more than 4.1 million acr of land and has displaced approximately 4 million people, besides loss of human lives, live- stock and properties.
He said that the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia have always supported Pakistan during difficult times. He thanked the Custodian of two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, the Second Deputy Premier HRH Prince Nauf bin Abdul Aziz and the Saudi Government for sending relief goods to the flood Victims in Pakistan.
The Consul General of Pakistan said that the devastations caused by the flood was so big that Government alone could not overcome it and it needed the support and help of overseas Pakistanis and NGOs.
He urged the Pakistani Communities in the Kingdom to come forward and support the Government relief work. National Anthem of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were also played on the occasion. Various Pakistani Forums and Community members donated cash for the flood victims on the occasion.
