Opposition Leader in the Senate calls on Prime Minister Gilani

Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has stressed upon the need of strengthening the Parliament and democratic institutions. He said that it is duty of each Parliamentarian to work for the supremacy of Parliament.

The Prime Minister was talking to Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Leader of Opposition in the Senate who called on him at PM’s House this morning.

The Prime Minister said that the government is paying special attention to the development of all the regions particularly Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that he has inaugurated the construction work on the new Khushal Garh Bridge which is a mega project and will play a catalytic role in the development of southern districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. He further said that development schemes in all parts of the country have been undertaken to ameliorate the public problems. He urged the public representatives to monitor the development schemes for their timely completion.

Opposition Leader in Senate discussed development and security issues of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the Prime Minister. He requested the Prime Minister to direct the concerned quarters to expedite work on the repair of Karachi-Quetta Highway. He further requested the Prime Minister to pay special attention towards early completion of Dadu-Khuzdar Electric Transmission lines.

Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haider also discussed law and order situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He appreciated the inauguration of construction work on the newly Khushal Garh Bridge.
