Islamabad: On this auspicious and blessed occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, I am extremely happy to extend my felicitation to the people of Pakistan and the Pakistani expatriate community from the core of my heart.
This festival that falls on the conclusion of sacred month of Ramadan is Allah’s special blessing for the Muslims in terms of happiness who kept fasts for one month and dedicated themselves to His remembrance in piety and worship. Socially speaking, this festival affords an opportunity to share our happiness with one another to strengthen the bond of brotherhood.
The essence of Islamic teachings encompasses the individual and collective life of man in its entirety. Therefore, all Islamic festivals including Eid-ul-Fitr should be viewed in this broader context. It is a matter of satisfaction and pride that the Muslims of Pakistan are celebrating Islamic festival according in the spirit of love, compassion and tolerance. The manifestation of this passion appears to be at its peak on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
While we are celebrating this festival with traditional fervour, it is our national and Islamic duty that we also include underprivileged and disadvantaged sections of our society in our happiness. The scourges of terrorism and extremism have posed serious problems to our state and society.
The killing of innocent people is contrary to the spirit of Islamic teachings and the message of Eid-ul-Fitr. The government is determined to apprehend the perpetrators of violence and bring them to justice. I would make an appeal to the people of Karachi to cooperate with the provincial government in its efforts to restore peace in the city. With the support of people, peace and normalcy will be restored in the metropolis.
Let us vow on this blessed occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr that we will leave no stone unturned to make Pakistan a hub of peace and progress and eliminate terrorism from our land by forging unity in our ranks by inculcating the spirit of unity, faith and disciple as espoused by Quaid-e-Azam.
