Maqbool Butt remembered world over


Srinagar/Mirpur, February 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): Prominent Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt was remembered all over the world with honour and adoration on his 29th martyrdom anniversary on February 11.

Kashmiri’s living across the globe organized many meetings, protests and rallies on the day. Despite curfew and restriction people held protest demonstrations at many places including Trehgam, Maisuma, Pattan, Baramulla, Islamabad, Pulwama, Doda and Rajouri.

Functions were also held in USA, UK, UAE, Europe, Holland, Canada, Saudi Arabia Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

In Mirpur, Azad Kashmir a big gathering was held, which besides others was also addressed by JKLF Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik.

In his address Yasin Malik said that it was Maqbool Butt whose footprints were being followed by the Kashmiris till today and the martyrdom of Mohammad Afzal Guru was a recent example of this.

Yasin Malik said that it was on 11th February in 1984 Indian blood-thirsty leaders sent Maqbool Butt to gallows and refused to hand over his body to the Kashmiris and buried him inside Tihar jail.

“Now after 29 years when the world has become much more civilized and open, Indian leaders by putting Muhammad Afzal Guru on gallows and burying him inside the same jail had proved that these so-called democrats still live and follow the rules and laws of jungle,” Yasin Malik said.

Protests were also held outside Indian High Commission in London.
