Libyan government discusses migration crisis


Tripoli � Deputy Interior Minister for Immigration of Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) Mohammed Shabbani held a meeting here on Monday with several representatives of international organizations concerned with the 2019 migration dossier in the north African nation.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of Libya's Presidential Council Abdulsalam Kajman, UN Deputy Special Envoy for Humanitarian Affairs in Libya Maria do Valle Ribeiro, European Union Ambassador to Libya Alan Bugeja and Italy's Charge d'affaires in Tripoli Nicola Orlando, as well as representatives of the international organizations working in Libya on the file of illegal immigration.

According to a statement by the Tripoli-based Interior Ministry, the participants discussed the development of a working strategy for the organizations concerned with the migration dossier for 2019. In addition to improving the living conditions of the migrants inside the shelter centers, finding radical solutions to the flow of migrants across the southern borders of the Libyan state and working towards establishing sustainable development in the countries exporting the migrants.
