Karachi Metropolitan Corporation launches action against parking of oil tankers in Shireen Jinnah Colony

 

Karachi, August 24, 2015 (PPI-OT): Following the directive of Administrator Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, KMC launched strict action against the parking of oil tankers and establishment of encroachments in Shireen Jinnah Colony on Monday. During the current operation which would continue on Tuesday and Wednesday all oil tankers parked in the streets of Shireen Jinnah Colony would be shifted to newly constructed oil tankers parking terminal in Zulfiqarabad in three days.

Director Anti Encroachments Department KMC Mazhar Khan along with the deputy commissioner South Saleem Rajput and other officers supervised this operation in the presence of heavy contingent of rangers and police. KMC has warned the occupiers of streets in Shireen Jinnah Colony to remove their belongings from streets or they would have to face losses.

The Administrator Karachi has said that this operation which was carried out on the orders of the court will continue till the shifting of last tanker from this area. He said KMC has constructed a modern oil tankers parking terminal in Zulfiqarabad where 2375 oil tankers can be parked at once.

The infrastructure laid there was enough or over 10 thousand people and all stakeholders had been taken on board for this project. The project spread on an area of 150 acres out of which 120 acres were allocated for oil tankers parking and remaining 30 acres land for providing other facilities in the terminal.
