JKPM condemns stepped up atrocities in IOK

Srinagar, August 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) has strongly condemned the stepped up atrocities against the civilian population by the Indian forces across the territory. The senior Hurriyet leader Mir Shahid Saleem in a statement issued in Jammu said that after the attack on the BSF personnel in Udhampur the notorious Indian investigation agency had started arresting and intimidating people, especially the youth on one pretext or the other.

He said the arrest of half a dozen youth from several areas of the south Kashmir during the past couple of days was a part of the same campaign. He said that police also used brutal force against the mourners of the youth killed by the Indian forces at Kakpora in Pulwama a few days ago. He said that the stepped up atrocities by the authorities in the occupied territory could not weaken the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiri people.

Mir Shahid Saleem appealed to the international human rights bodies to keep a close vigil on the series of events unfolding in Kashmir and protect the human rights of the Kashmiri people from being abused. He said nocturnal raids and search operations being conducted across the territory had reminded the people of the dreadful era of the early nineties.
