JKLF condemns police raids on party’s office

Srinagar, February 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has strongly condemned the police raid on party’s district office in Islamabad town. JKLF spokesman in a statement said that police raided the office before and during the meeting, which was held in connection with the Maqbool Day in Kashmir’s Islamabad and Kulgam districts.

“Police also removed the banners and flags of JKLF from the office. It is illegal, undemocratic and unjustified action which exposes the real face of the government of India and its authorities in the occupied territory,” the JKLF statement said.

JKLF members and relatives of martyrs who later gathered in connection with Maqbool Day said “Maqbool Butt’s steadfastness and continued struggle for freedom of Jammu Kashmir remains unparallel. With his struggle, sacrifices, wisdom and vision, he stands above all,” said acting Chairman of JKLF Bashir Ahmad Butt.

The prominent Kashmiri liberation leader Mohammad Maqbool Butt was hanged on February 11, 1984 and was buried inside Tihar Jail in Delhi.

Calling February 11 as an important day in Kashmir’s history, Bashir Ahmad Butt said “This is the day when our beloved leader kissed the gallows but refused to budge before the tyrants, adding that “Kashmiris don’t fear jails and gallows. On February 11, we will protest against the continued imprisonment of our beloved leader’s mortal remains in Tihar jail”, he added.

Others JKLF leaders Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Mushtaq Ajmal, Ghulam Qadir Hyder ,Muhammad Siddiq Shah, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Muhammad Ishaq Ganai, Abdul Sattar participated in the meeting.
