Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Culture, Transport and Inter Provincial Coordination, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that the provincial Information Department has on all fronts particularly in the war against terror, return and rehabilitation of Malakand IDPs and recent devastating floods played a very important and historical role and presented clear picture of the situation before the people due to which people confidence on the provincial government has been restored.
This he said while talking to American Consul General, Ms. Merry Richard at Peshawar on Friday. Secretary Information and Culture, Azmat Hanif Orakzai and Director Information, Shuaibuddin were also present on this occasion. They besides discussing national as well as international issues also discussed matters of mutual interest. The Consul General assured the minister her full support in information and public relations, culture, transport and inter provincial coordination sectors.
The Information Minister said that the strong and strengthened Information Department was the need of the hour and that was the effectively and efficient role of the Information Department due to which we convey our stance to the international community on all issues. He added that we were working on communication strategy under which besides launching our own TV channel, the network of FM Radio Channels to the entire province is being extended in a phased manner.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain maintained that terrorism and militancy at that was the major problem of the region, if we get rid of this menace in real manner, we would be able to overcome other problems of the province as well as of its people. He added that provincial autonomy was the big achievement of the present government under which we get ownership on our all resources. Terming the 18th Constitutional amendment as a silent revolution, he said that it was the win of all the political and democratic forces and was a guarantee of stable and prosperous Pakistan.
Referring to the demand of Hazara Province, the Minister said that it was the Constitutional and legal right of the people of Hazara Division. He however said that these people should adopt constitutional way for it. He clarified that after struggle of 63 years, we did not create new province rather only change its name as per the aspirations of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He further clarified that the status of Hazara is the same as was in the past.
