Karachi, October 26, 2012 (PPI-OT): Industrialists and Traders who called on Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan at Governor House, agreed to introduce Community Policing in their respective areas in collaboration with Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC). The Marathon session lasted more than 4 hours.
Governor’s initiative to establish this system at North Karachi Industrial Estate is a success story, Representatives of North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) reported to the meeting.
Besides high officials representatives of Federation of Pakistan’s Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Tajir Ettehad, all the Associations of Industrial Estates and Trades attended the meeting.
Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan also directed the issuance of arms licenses to the business community and additional mobile phone locators for the Karachi police, in a bid to improve law and order situation in the city.
The governor directed Inspector General (IG) Sindh and Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karachi to immediately procure the items, following a demand by the respective stakeholders of the business community.
The governor also instructed concerned officials to depute additional 500 police personnel in the old city and industrial areas to combat criminals.
He also ordered the disbursement of extra mobile vans and motorcycles, and to establish police pickets on entry and exit points of markets and industrial areas.
He directed the Home Secretary to issue arms licence to the members of business community in order to combat with the criminals associated with the bhatta mafia.
CPLC informed the participants of the meeting, that one mobile phone locator will be provided in November, through which phone calls of criminals will be monitored.
Businessmen demanded the Governor to establish an IT Experts Cell which should extended access to phone call data of cellular service companies.
The governor directed the officials present on the occasion that the follow-up of the instructions issued would be made on November 15, and if the orders issued by him would not be fully implemented, the officials concerned would be held responsible for that.
DR Ebad assured the stakeholders that their grievances would be addressed without any further delay.
