Indonesian Trade and Culture Exhibition from 18 November in Karachi

Karachi: The 3rd Indonesian Solo Exhibition will be held on November 18 – 20, 2011 in Karachi. This was informed by the honorable Rossalis R. Adenan, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia while addressing a meeting with Pakistani importers participating in the Indonesian exhibition here in Karachi.

He further informed that the exhibition be officially opened by Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan, H. E. Isaac Latuconsina. The Sindh Minister for Information Technology, HE Mr. Raza Haroon is scheduled to be the Chief Guest. He informed the press that twenty Indonesian companies have confirmed their participation besides sixteen Pakistani importers.

It would be remembered that the Indonesia and Pakistan signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in November 2005 in which both countries commenced negotiations to conclude a PTA.

Both countries have already finalized the negotiation on the Preferential Trade Agreement in Jakarta, 16th of September 2011 and to be signed by commerce ministers at date and venue to be agreed at due course.

The Pakistan cabinet has already approved the signing and ratification of the PTA the implementation of which will result into lowering of duty on commodities by offering respective market access. (Pakistan offers 288 tariff lines and Indonesia offers 221 tariff lines).

It is hoped that the PTA will be beneficial to improving the export of both brotherly countries.
