Islamabad: The meeting of the Standing Committee on Housing and Works was held today at Committee Room No. 7 of the Parliament House. The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the private member Bill regarding the abolition of discretionary quotas in housing schemes; moved by Zahid Hamid and other MNAs.

The housing quotas have been clearly categorized and no one has the prerogative to allot any plot according to mere discretion. As far as the housing schemes Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) are concerned, they do not come under the jurisdiction of the Standing Committee on Housing and Works.
During the proceedings of the Committee meeting, the Federal Minister apprised the members about the facts regarding Barakoh land scam. He also showed some documentary proofs including receipts collected from the Patwaris of that area. While expressing his confidence over the new Estate Officer, he said that he would definitely abide by the rules.
