Government all set to give Federally Administrated Tribal Areas same status as of Gilgit Baltistan: Secretary Pir Bakhsh Jamali

 

Islamabad, August 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): In her first visit of Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, H.E Ambassador Sobine Sparwesser of Germany has called on Federal Secretary of SAFRON, Mr. Pir Bakhsh Jamali.

The Secretary briefed her about the role and functions of SAFRON ministry and its area and scope of jurisdiction. The secretary also informed the Ambassador about the current status of TDPs and Afghan Refugees. The ambassador showed keen interest in the ongoing projects run by GIZ and RAHA in coordination with SAFRON Ministry.

The Secretary also informed her about the current law and order situation in Balochistan and the current China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said that the ministry is strengthening the role of police in Balochistan for the safety and security of important development projects in Balochistan.

The secretary has especially briefed the Ambassador about the future status of FATA and the measures taken by Federal government, which include, Education emergency, local body laws implementation, governance rules and finally the grant of status of FATA council to FATA representatives, in the lines of the same status given to Gilgit Baltistan, This will include the executive and legislative powers being given to the representatives from FATA with financial autonomy.

The summary has already been sent to the Prime Minister for approval, after the recommendations of all the stakeholders and the parliamentarians. The ambassador has extended all her support in different development projects in FATA and Balochistan.
