Islamabad, November 08, 2012 (PPI-OT): Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly has called upon the nation to personify the teachings and poetry of Allama Iqbal in their personal and social lives in order to steer Pakistan out of the menace of extremism and terrorism.
She called for a cohesive strategy for fostering the human values of fraternity, brotherhood and truthfulness. Speaker National Assembly said this in her message on the birth anniversary of the national poet Allama Mohammad Iqbal.
The Speaker said that the poetry and thoughts of Allama Iqbal awoke Muslims from their deep slumber and injected spirit of independence and freedom in the Muslim Ummah. His poetry was the source of inspiration for the Muslims of the subcontinent, which enabled them to break the shackles of slavery and lead them to achieve a separate homeland for them, she said.
The Speaker said that Iqbal knew the real worth of Muslim Ummah and wanted to revive their past glory which had dwindled due to the drift from the religion. The Speaker said that Allama Iqbal advocated the Muslim Ummah to recuperate their lost glory through reverting back to the teachings of Islam by holding steadfastly the teaching of Quran and Sunnah.
The Speaker advised the youth to adopt a role, which personifies the human values of fraternity, brotherhood and truthfulness in their personal and social lives. She also urged them to idealize Allama Mohammad Iqbal and adopt traits of honesty and dedication in their routine affairs to take out Pakistan from the present crisis.
