Fasih Bokhari presides meeting of National Accountability Bureau


Islamabad, December 20, 2012 (PPI-OT): Chairman NAB Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari presided over the Executive Board meeting held today decided to authorize an inquiry against the Chairman Baluchistan Public Service Commission (BPSC), and others where the accused persons were alleged for misuse of authority , favouritism, nepotism, corruption and corrupt practices while appointing officials against 800 vacancies of grade 16-18. It was alleged that the posts of Head Mistresses (BS-17) were sold for Rs. 1.7 million each and Assistant commissioners for Rs. 4.0 millions each without observing merit and depriving poor of their basic rights.

The Board decided to refer a case to the State bank of Pakistan (SBP) against four former Directors of Bank of Punjab (BoP) so that a reference could be filed with NAB through Governor SBP under section 31-D of NAO 1999. In this case the accused persons were alleged for obtaining bank loans in violation of rules and regulations.

The Board also decided to close four inquiries / investigation for want of incrementing evidence against the accused persons. First against Rana Zahid Ashraf, CEO GEPCO and others where the accused persons were alleged for corruption in procurement of steel cross arms, procurement of capacitors, corruption in acquisition of land for grid station at Khiali Aroop and illegal appointments in GEPCO.

Second against Nawaz Ali Samejo, Ex- Chief Engineer, WAPDA. In this case the accused person was alleged for embezzlement of Rs 13.86 millions in the purchase of one shaft circulating pump and one thrust Roller Bearing. Third against Yousaf Khattak, EX-DG on Farm Water Management Agriculture Department, Peshawar.

The accused person was alleged for accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income. Fourth against Mr. Qamar Hussain, President National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). The accused was alleged for submission of fake educational degrees/ certificates for appointment by changing his father name.
