Economic Uplift Central to Women Empowerment: Fiza Gilani

Islamabad: Newly appointed Ambassador for Women Empowerment, Syeda Fiza Batool Gilani, has expressed her resolve to work for the cause of women empowerment, adding that economic empowerment of the women was a key to achieve this objective. She said that she would try her level best to come up to the trust reposed in her by the government by appointing her as Ambassador of Women Empowerment.

Syeda Fiza Batool Gilani expressed these views while addressing Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Multan today. She said that the country was beset by a number of problems including that of terrorism and extremism and the empowerment of women could help eliminate these tendencies.

Fiza Batool Gilani said that she wanted to make Multan a model district with regard to employment of women and also espouse this right across the country through a women movement.

Syeda Fiza Batool Gilani said that exploitation of women was a global issue, which was not merely restricted to Pakistan and underscored the need of concerted and sustained efforts in this regard.

Syeda Fiza Batool Gilani asked the male members of society to stand by women in their struggle for empowerment as only full and unhindered participation of women into national life could put Pakistan on the trajectory of social and economic development. She said that she took up the task of working for women causes because her father Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani encouraged her to do so.

Syeda Fiza Batool Gilani appreciated the untiring efforts of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry in carving out a niche in the world of business and finance, adding that their success proved that they were fully capable of achieving high standards in their professions.

Underscoring the need of empowering women at the grassroots, she asked the Women Chamber to prepare a three-tiered management cadre of women who would impart skill development training to less educated women in an attempt to make them economically self-reliant.

She said that showcasing the work of Pakistani women at the global level would help promote Pakistan’s soft image besides being a source of respectable livelihood for them. She assured the Women Chamber that the government would support them in their efforts to become good entrepreneurs and also facilitate them to export their products.
