Ebad for completion of low cost houses


Karachi, February 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan said Thursday early provision of basic infrastructure for the completion of low cost housing schemes would spur the construction activities and help people complete their housing units. This he stated while chairing a meeting at the Governor House here regarding the activities of the Malir Development Authority(MDA).

Dr. Ebad pointed out that many years ago plots in residential schemes were allotted to the people at low rates, on easy installments and that the process of giving possession has also started.

The Governor was of the view that construction companies be also involved in the process so that the people could benefit from their services as well.

He said that 90 percent infrastructure of the New Malir Housing Scheme has been completed and the remaining work should be done at the earliest.

Ebad stressed that the houses and flats should be within the reach of the people from low income groups.

The Director General of the MDA, Sarfraz Ahmed, gave a detailed briefing on the occasion. He said that the New Malir Housing Project (MDA Scheme One) is spread over an areas of 3,500 acres with 26,000 plots. The area of the Shah Latif Town (KDA Scheme 25) is 1,728 acres with 37,600 plots whereas the area of Taiser Town (KDA Scheme 42) is 10,500 acres and the number of plots is 68,000.
