Islamabad: An 18 Member delegation of Sargodha District Bar headed by Chaudhry Mehmood, President and Muhammad Bilal Kamboh, Secretary, Sargodha District Bar and comprising other office bearers and members of the Bar called on the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice. Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry today i.e. 21.07.2011 in Supreme Court Building, Islamabad.
Talking to the delegation, his lordship said that bench and bar are the integral part of same system; they should work hard to provide justice to litigants at their doorsteps.
Talking over the issue of purging judiciary of corrupt elements, his lordship said that under the National Judicial Policy, Committees headed by District and Sessions Judge and comprising on President and members have been formed in each District to keep vigilant eye over corrupt elements causing bad name for the institutions. They further informed his lordship that under National Judicial Policy, the cases are disposed of expeditiously which decrease the ratio of backlog/pendency but some of the cases are disposed of on technical grounds causing further hurdles for litigants and lawyers and enhance the quantity of cases and suggested that the time period for cases as settled in judicial policy may be extended. The Honourable Chief Justice assured them to take up the matter on the forum of forthcoming meeting of National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC).
The members discussed with the Chief Justice, issues and matters of interest of the legal/judicial fraternity and thanked the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan for finding time for them. They further said that his lordship is a ray of hope and he is held in high esteem by whole nation due to his professional commitments, legal acumen and dedications for cause of supremacy of Constitution, rule of law and independence of judiciary. Further, they discussed the problems faced by them in their professional field like frivolous litigation, frequent transfers and postings of Judicial Magistrates, some contradictive rulings in some cases etc. The Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan informed them that these matters will be taken on proper forums to find their proper solutions.
On issue of the facilitating the youngsters, his lordship said that under the National Judicial Policy, young lawyers have been provided an opportunity to be appointed as Local Commissioners to record the evidence so as to get the first hand knowledge of judicial cases, the objective behind the appointment was to train new-comers in the field and to guide them for their future. Further, his lordship also suggested them to allot chambers to female lawyers according to their proportion so as to encourage them in the field and to build their confidence to work effectively.
They also invited the Honourable Chief Justice to visit Sargodha District Bar and prayed for long healthy life of his lordship. The Honourable Chief Justice conveyed his gratitude, extended his thanks and assured to visit them in near future
