Business community welcomes Mandviwalla’s appointment as Finance Minister


Islamabad, February 21, 2013 (PPI-OT): Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI); Mr. Tariq Sayeed, Vice President, CACCI, Founder and Former President, SAARC CCI and former President, FPCCI; Mr. S.M. Muneer, President, Indo-Pak CCI and former President, FPCCI, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, Vice President, SAARC CCI and former President FPCCI, Shaikh Haroon Rashid, Sheikh Shakil Ahmad Dhingra, Mr. Iqbal Dawood Pakwalla, Begum Salma Ahmad, Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, Mirza Abdul Rehman, Mr. Azhar Majeed, Mr. Zubair Ali, and Engineer Daroo Khan Achakzai, Vice Presidents, FPCCI have welcomed the appointment of Mr. Saleem Mandviwalla as the Federal Minister for Finance by the President of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari.

While congratulating Mr. Mandviwalla on his new portfolio, the business leaders said that Mr. Mandviwalla brought a rich background of experience with him, including having served as both Chairman of the Board of Investment and Minister of State for Finance, and also being a successful businessman himself. Therefore, the business community of the country expected that Mr. Mandviwalla would be able to understand their concerns, given that he was himself a member of the business community.

They said that Mr. Mandviwalla had very recently visited the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Head Office where he lent a patient ear to the issues raised by the country’s leading businessmen and promised to tackle them proactively. The business community’s leaders also assured Mr. Mandviwalla of their maximum support in offering recommendations for reviving the country’s economy.
