ANF in 9 operations, recovered drugs worth Rs. 3.8 42 billion 9 persons held on drug trafficking charges and 2 vehicles seized

Islamabad, January 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): ANF recovered 568 Kg Heroin and 64 Kg Charas and 300 Grams of Opium during 9 operations conducted across the country. The value of recovered drugs approximately amounts to Rs. 3.842 Billion in International Market. ANF also arrested 9 persons involved in drug trafficking and seized 2 vehicles during the operations.

According to details, ANF Quetta received an information that a Narcotics Gang intended to smuggle huge quantity of Heroin to Karachi for onward transportation to some foreign destination across the sea. On pursuance of intelligence report, a Road Check was set up in general area of Killi Sardar Kamal Khan, Tehsil Barshore, District Pishin.

During the surveillance, a Mitsubishi Pajero Jeep stopped at some distance from the ANF Road Check. Suspecting the situation, ANF Team approached the vehicle, which was unregistered and took it into custody. The persons on board, however, already had fled away from the scene leaving the vehicle unattended behind. During search of the vehicle, 568 Kgs of Heroin was recovered from the improvised cavities of the jeep.

According to details, ANF Quetta seized an unattended bag laying at a desolate site situated at coastal area of Pishoonkan, District Gawadar and recovered 19 Kgs of Charas from the bag. Bag contained 19 packets of Charas, each weighing 1 Kg Charas. Charas was reportedly to be transferred to some other narcotics trafficking gang for onward transportation across the sea.

ANF Rawalpindi Team deputed at Gilgit, apprehended a local resident Siraj-ud-Din near City Hospital, River View Road, Gilgit along with recovery of 250 Gram Charas from his personal possession. As per reports, the accused is involved in supply of drugs for local consumption.

ANF Lahore Road Check Team during routine vehicle search at main Motorway Sheikhupura Interchange, arrested a person Amanat Ali, a resident of Nankana Sahib and recovered 4.5 Kgs of Charas from his possession. Charas was packed in plastic packets concealed inside a fruit box and an oil cane. He was arrested from a passenger bus bound for Nankana Sahib. As per preliminary investigations, he intended to carry the drug for local use.

ANF Lahore in an operation conducted near GPO, Paris Road, Sialkot City, arrested a local heroin peddler Naveed Hassan, a local resident and recovered 165 Grams of Heroin from his personal possession.

ANF Lahore Road Check Team during routine checking at main Motorway Faisalabad Toll Plaza, Faisalabad, arrested two passengers namely Abdul Manan and Ghulam Safdar, both residents of Toba Tek Singh along with recovery of 4 Kg Charas and 300 Grams of Opium. They were arrested from a passenger bus coming from Peshawar. As per reports, they intended to smuggle drugs to Toba Tek Singh for local use.

ANF Peshawar in an operation conducted near Labour Colony Gate, Industrial Estate Road, Peshawar arrested two accused Zardasht and Qismat Gul, residents of Khyber Agency along with recovery of 12 Kgs of Charas concealed in a shopping bag. As per reports, they were carrying drugs to Peshawar City.

ANF Peshawar Road Check Team intercepted a suspected Suzuki Mehran Car No. IDT-2932 at Zakori Pul, Ring Road, Peshawar. On search of the car, 24 Kgs of Charas was recovered from secret cavities made inside the rear portion of the car. A person on board namely Said Rasool r/o Khyber Agency was taken into custody. He was reportedly transporting drugs from Khyber Agency to Peshawar City for onward distribution to Punjab.

ANF Karachi Airport Team detained a passenger Imran Mustafa Bhatti r/o Sialkot at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi on suspicion of having gulped Heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, the accused confessed of having 67 Heroin capsules in his belly. The accused intended to board for Bangkok by Thai Airline Flight No. TG-342. He was shifted to Nehal Hospital, Karachi for recovery of capsules.

Cases have been registered against all the detainees at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations are under process.
