Islamabad: “There is a lot of potential and opportunities between our two brotherly countries that can be exploited for our common benefits”
Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mir Changez Khan Jamali said this to the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, His Excellency Dr. Rushdi Al-Ani here at the minister’s office, Islamabad.
During the course of the meeting, Mr. Jamali apprised His Excellency Dr. Rushdi Al-Ani about different projects and initiatives launched by his ministry to make headway in the field of science and technology. Mr. Jamali said that his ministry will undertake all possible steps to boost cooperation between the two countries in the field of technology, research and innovation. Both sides also committed themselves to exchange education and research programmes and to expand the scope of mutual cooperation in order to increase people to people contact. Commenting on the common menace of terrorism and extremism confronting both countries, the minister said that the acquisition of modern and advanced education was the best way to stave off this threat and for this the two countries need to cooperate more effectively and cordially.
Dr. Rushdi Al-Ani said that Iraqi minister for science and technology will visit Pakistan in the coming months to expand the scope of cooperation in this particular field. He also said that efforts were underway to establish direct flights between the two brotherly countries. Mr. Jamali thanked Dr. Rushdi Al-Ani for visiting his ministry and assured him of his full cooperation in future engagements.
