Alliance with Pakistan People’s Party for national interest and political reconciliation: Ch. Anwar Ali Cheema

Islamabad: Ch. Anwar Ali Cheema, Federal Minister for Production has said that Pakistan Muslim League has joined the government in the greater national interest and not for obtaining ministries and advisories. The Minister stated that the alliance would come to an end the day the government turned its back to the masses. The Minister observed, while talking at Sargodha press club, that the country was passing through a critical phase and all the political forces should work for national unity instead of undertaking political point-scoring.

On the occasion of the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected representatives of the press club, the Minister underscored the need of national reconciliation and political harmony. He said that all sections of society, including the political parties, should come up with an optimistic but realistic approach towards national crises. The country is faced with the menace of terrorism, energy shortage, inflation, unemployment and poverty. In order to overcome the challenges, the whole nation will have to make a concerted effort instead of merely criticizing the government for all the misfortunes.

While talking about the role of journalists, the Minister called the media the fourth estate that reflects the intellectual, moral and social consciousness of society. The Minister said that both the print and the electronic media enjoy complete freedom of expression. The Minister paid a glowing tribute to all those journalists who had to suffer during the performance of their official duties. The Minister called upon the government to protect the journalists who render meritorious service, from all hazards and dangers/threats.

The Minister said that he had always kept the welfare for the journalists on top priority. In this regard, he reminded, the approval of the journalists’ colony Sargodha was the result of his untiring efforts. He further assured that, in future too, he will do his level best for betterment of journalists. Moreover, he promised to pursue the case of providing Sui gas and electricity to the colony alongwith the construction of the press club gallery hall.

Earlier, on his arrival to the press club, the Minister was warmly welcomed by the administration. The Minister administered oath from the elected representatives. On the occasion, the President of the press club. Ashraf Nadeem, General Secretary, Rana Sajid Iqbal, VC of University of Sargodha Dr. M. Ali also delivered their speeches and appreciated the constructive role of the Ch. Anwar Ali Cheema for the welfare of the people of Sargodha.
