Islamabad: Minister of State Akram Masih Gill has urged the young generation to play active role for the promotion of peace, patience and tolerance in the society and work for the understanding and brotherhood among people of different schools of thought through interfaith harmony.
He stressed on the need to promote moderation, tolerance and inter-faith harmony in order to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the society specially in the current national scenario.
The Minister was addressing a seminar on peace and interfaith harmony held in Ayubia Khanspur on Friday. The seminar was organized by Father Ashraf Gill, Director Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Ministry, Lahore at conclusion session of a 6-day training camp of about 80 youths who were invited there from different districts of Punjab for their capacity building, self awareness to make them ready for the promotion of interfaith harmony.
He expressed firm commitment to continue efforts aimed at promoting interfaith harmony, and creating understanding and accommodation among different societies.
“There lied a heavy responsibility on governments and civil society to play role in promoting harmony and mutual respect among all faiths, cultures and nations”, the Minister added.
He stressed on the need to bridge the social, religious and civil gaps among the human beings so that they come closer to each other and understand the other creeds and religions.
Father Ashraf Gill speaking to the seminar appreciated the services of the Minister for State for his contribution in the promotion of interfaith harmony being a young parliamentarian and added that the youth have been imparted training for the service of humanity and to promote inter-community relations to build a progressive Pakistan.
Coordinator Interfaith Harmony Ch Ishfaq Ahamed Hundal and Secretary General PML Minorities Wing Mr James also addressed the seminar and lauded the effort of Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Ministry to arrange youth camp for the capacity building of the youths who are the future of nation.
