Ailing Gilani needs hospitalization: Dr Kaul

Srinagar, February 27, 2013 (PPI-OT): Dr Sameer Kaul, doctor of the octogenarian Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the veteran leader is looking very weak and confining him to a single room can aggravate his health problems.

For more than a fortnight now under house arrest in New Delhi, Syed Ali Gilani has not been feeling well and needs immediate medical treatment.

“He is critically ill and is suffering from serious heart ailments. The family member of the leader said.

“If any untoward thing happens to my father, Indian government would be responsible”, his son, Naseem Gilani said.

He demanded immediate release of his father so that he could be shifted to hospital for treatment.

Gilani along with his wife was detained on February 9, the day when Afzal Guru was hanged in Tihar jail Delhi.

Dr Sameer Kaul, who is the doctor of the octogenarian leader, said, “I visited Gilani’s house two days back and he was looking very weak,” adding, that his family was ready to take him to hospital, but he apprehended that authorities might not allow them to do so. He was suffering from multiple ailments and a person like him needs a health check-up, regular exercise and some free air.

On Monday, the National Conference leader and so-called Member of Indian Parliament, Ghulam Nabi Rattanpuri while calling detention of Gilani illegal said, “He was visibly sad and probably tired also.”

“I met him some days ago. He complained of chest pain. Confining him to a room can add to the problems and he needs hospitalisation,” he said.
