Administrator inspects construction work of Jinnah terminal flyover


Karachi, February 27, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that Jinnah Terminal being constructed on Sharae Faisal would be opened for citizens in current fiscal year. This flyover was being built with a cost of Rs289.782million and completion of this flyover would facilitate citizens going to Airport, National Highway, Port Qasim, Export Processing Zone and Pakistan Steel.

He said this while inspecting construction works of Jinnah Terminal Flyover on Wednesday where he was accompanied by Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon, Director General Parks and Horticulture Niaz Soomro, Project Director and other officials.

He said the speed of all under construction projects should be enhanced and standard of material should be focused to build the infrastructure of the city on modern lines. Administrator Karachi directed to complete Jinnah Terminal flyover by the end of May.

He said Sharae Faisal was an important and busy corridor and traffic pressure due to international airport exist here and after the completion of Zulfiqarabad Oil Tanker Parking Terminal traffic would further increase on this corridor therefore it was necessary to complete this flyover as soon as possible.

Project Director on this occasion in a briefing informed that this flyover would consist of 3 lanes and 9 spans whereas the flyover has 570 meter length and 10.5 meter width and 2 U-Turns along with flyover would also be built so that vehicles changing the way would not have to suffer from long distance.

Director General Technical Services said construction works would continue 24 hours to complete this project in stipulated time. Administrator Karachi directed project director and concerned engineers to be present on construction site all the time to examine the quality standard and continue construction works non-stop.

Administrator Karachi said he would visit under construction projects in the city time to time so that construction works would be inspected and improved. He said every possible measures would be taken to improve the infrastructure of city and projects consisting public interest would be preferred.
