AAC concerned about Mirwaiz’s continued house arrest

Srinagar, February 27, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee has expressed serious concern over the continued house arrest of the party leader and Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Hurriyet leaders.

The Awami Action Committee in its Central Working Committee meeting held at the Mirwaiz Manzil in Srinagar said that imposing restrictions on the political, religious and social activities of the APHC Chairman and other Hurriyet leaders had become a routine matter.

The participants of the meeting said that being the Mirwaiz and political leader of Jammu and Kashmir, he had engagements with the people and if he was not released, the people would come on roads.

The participants denounced the arrest of hundreds of peaceful protesters in the aftermath of the hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru.

They also hailed the timely response of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq where he expressed concern over the anti-people police bill, 2013.
