Transfer of employees in Karachi Water and Sewerage Board

Karachi, February 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has directed Administration Department to transfer 1000 employees from Engineering, Finance and Administration department to RRG Department. The decision was taken during a meeting, chaired by M.D KW and SB Misbahuddin Farid, to discuss and devise strategies for increasing KW and SB revenue.

During the meeting he directed DMD RRG to ensure on time billing and on time recovery. Moreover, deeming the year 2013 the “Year of Revenue” he said that the additional staff is provided to RRG department in order to ensure better recovery and increase in revenue. He also directed DMD RRG to include income generated at hydrants in the revenue targets.

He said that due to the constant increase in the population and construction of multi-story buildings on one hand puts additional burden on the existing water supply and sewerage infrastructure and on the other KW and SB revenue is not increasing at the same rate as the city. The increase in demand however, makes it harder for KW and SB to operate and ensure swift provision of facilities, day by day.

He directed Revenue Department to commence a detailed survey and register all new buildings, houses and buildings with additional floors than in KW and SB record. He also directed Administration Department to transfer 1000 employees from Engineering, Finance and Administration Department to RRG department to ensure that all revenue operations are carried out properly without any delay.

He said that these steps are taken to protect and maintain the water supply and sewerage infrastructure in the city since increase in population, multi-story buildings and additional floors on old buildings is putting an increased load on the system disabling KW and SB to fulfil the current demand.
