Tauqir Sadiq’s extradition: National Accountability Bureau team meets Pakistan’s envoy to Emirates

Islamabad, February 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): The visiting NAB team met Mr. Jamil Ahmed Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE early Monday morning in connection with deportation/extradition of Tauqir Sadiq to Pakistan says a news release received here. The Minister had extended special invitation to the NAB team for this urgent meeting.

The NAB team updated the Ambassador on the latest developments of the case which could be highlighted by the Ambassador during his meeting scheduled with the Assistant Minister, UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the same case.

The NAB team especially referred to the fact that the accused Touqir Sadiq, ex-Chairman OGRA, has caused huge financial loss to Pakistan’s national exchequer in addition to damaging gas sector by increasing line losses from 1 % to nearly 7 %, issuing illegal CNG stations licenses and by granting undue favours to certain cartels, resulting into a severe gas crisis in the country.

The Ambassador who later met with H.E. Dr. Saeed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, once again forcefully demanded that deportation of the accused person to Pakistan may be finalized today or maximum by tomorrow.

The points given by the NAB team were once again amply highlighted during the meeting. H.E. Dr. Shamsi assured the Ambassador that the case was being carefully examined by the concerned UAE authorities and due to exigencies of the case expressed by Ambassador Jamil Ahmed Khan, they would respond very soon.
