National Assembly body on House and Library meets under chairmanship of Faisal Karim Kundi

 

Islamabad, February 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): NA Standing Committee on House and Library met under the Chairpersonship of Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker, National Assembly in Parliament House, today. The Committee decided to accommodate the retired employees, widows of the deceased employees of the National Assembly and the members who had deposited the full payment of the plot in the National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NAECHS) on priority basis.

The Deputy Speaker, National Assembly commended the work done by Members of Special Committee of NAECHS and suggested a letter of appreciation for them. He said that with the sincere endeavours of the members of the Special Committee the dead project of NAECHS has become operational.

He apprised the Committee that the society will be inaugurated in couple of week and allotment letters will be distributed amongst the members of the Society soon. Some Members of the Society complaint about the price of the plots, they were of the view that the plots in nearby societies are cheaper than the plots offered to them by NAECHS Administration.

They also informed the Committee that they have deposited full payment of the land announced by the than Management of the Society. The Deputy Speaker assured them that their reservations will be addressed.

The Member, Planning and Development, CDA has informed the Committee that the Administrator of the Society has not submitted the requisite documents for issuance NOC, therefore, NOC could not been issued, so far. The Deputy Speaker directed the Administrator of the society to fulfill all the formalities required for issuance of NOC.

The Members of the Committee expressed their concern over the cleanliness condition in the Parliament Lodges and poor quality of maintenance work carried out by CDA in Parliament Lodges. They complaint that the CDA staff deputed in Parliament Lodges often remained absent form their duties and no one was available to respond the complaints of Members.

They also apprised that the CC cameras installed in the Parliament Lodges are not functioning properly and lifts of various blocks were also out of order. The Deputy Speaker directed the CDA to take prompt action to address the grievances of the Parliamentarians and strictly monitor the quality of cleanliness and maintenance work in Parliament Lodges.

He directed CDA Director Parliament Lodges to submit a report about CC Cameras, lifts and wastage of water from water filtration plant of Parliament Lodges. The Deputy Speaker also directed National Assembly Secretariat to call Chairman, CDA and IG Islamabad Police in the next meeting of the Committee.

The members who attended the meeting were MNAs Mehreen Anwar Raja, Advocate, Mrs. Belum Hasnain, Saira Afzal Tarar, Mr. Asghar Ali Jatt, Mrs. Shagufta Jumani, and Syed Haider Ali Shah.
