Kashmiris hate India as a rat hates cat: Ansari

Srinagar, February 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): Former Delhi-appointed interlocutor on Kashmir, M M Ansari, describing the hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru as a political stunt has said that people of Kashmir hate India as a rat hates cat.

Ansari in a media interview with a Srinagar-based news agency slammed the Government of India for keeping everyone in dark about the execution of Muhammad Afzal Guru.

“I fail to understand why Muhammad Afzal Guru was hanged when his number was 28th. Why he was made scapegoat and for which purpose he was executed though the killers of Rajiv Gandhi were in line before him. Government of India must answer these questions and New Delhi must satisfy the people of Kashmir and answer them the motive behind the untimely execution of Guru.”

Ansari said that the Indian government clearly violated the norms of jail manual and even didn’t allow the family members to meet Afzal. “I am shocked what Government of India wants to prove by this act,” he said, adding that eminent jurists and civil society members were aghast over the procedures that India followed.

“I personally believe that people of Kashmir hate India as a rat hates cat,” he added.
