Karachi Water Sewerage Board organises workshop regarding Sindh Procurement Regulatory Authority rules and regulations

 

Karachi, February 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): Director Training Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Tehseen Manzar organized a Training Workshop regarding Sindh Procurement Regulatory Authority (SPPRA) rules and regulations on Tuesday 26-02-2013. Training was held on the directions of Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW and SB) Misbahuddin Farid to prevent objections from SPPRA and avoid misconduct during procurements.

According to the details, MD KW and SB after repeated objections from SPPRA on procurement procedures stating that such misconducts not only cause us precious time but financial losses also. Furthermore, he directed all the officers to ensure that NIT is prepared abiding the SPPRA 2009 and 2010 rules and audit regulations. This would not only eliminate the risk of SPPRA Objections and Audit Paras, but would also ensure timely completion of development projects.

Director Training Tehseen Manzar was also directed to organize and conduct a training session regarding SPPRA Rules and Regulations for the officers of KW and SB. The workshop was organized on Tuesday 26th February with the cooperation of SPPRA.

During the workshop Director SPPRA Akram Ali Khawaja briefed the participants from services, works and procurement of goods departments about the SPPRA provisions so that they can perform their duties in compliance to SPPRA rules and regulations. SPPRA Consultant Muhammad Arab Shaikh conducted the Question and Answer session during the workshop.

All Deputy Managing Directors, Chief Engineers, Directors, Account Officers including DMD Finance, Technical Services, Project Directors, Deputy Director Finance, LDLFA, Internal Auditor and account officers were present in the workshop.

M.D KW and SB Misbahuddin Farid hoped that officers participating in the workshop would now comply to the SPPRA Rules and Regulations, which would not only avoid SPPRA but Transparency International’s objections also, ensuring crystal clear procurement. He said that KW and SB is a public service institution and it is our duty to ensure swift provision of supplies to the citizens of Karachi.

Director Training Tehseen Manzar thanked all the participants of the Workshop and hoped that this would improve their efficiency during their day to day duties.
