Firdous Ashiq Awan inaugurates drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan’s official website

 

Islamabad, February 20, 2013 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for National Regulations and Services (NRS), Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan launched the official website of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP). The launching ceremony held at the Ministry of National Regulations and Services attended by Secretary Mr. Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, acting CEO of DRAP, Mr. Arshad Farooq Faheem and other officials from the Ministry of NRS and DRAP.

Talking to participants, the Federal Minister Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that this is the moto of the present Government to bring transparency through easy and free access to information. Therefore the Ministry has theory and slogan of “Information for All”.

Therefore, immediately after the promulgation of DRAP Act in November 2012, the Ministry of National Regulations and Services was directed for formation of a comprehensive and state of the art website. This milestone has been achieved successfully for which the Minister congratulated the Secretary, CEO and all officials of the Ministry and the DRAP.

It is pertinent to mention that the web address of the official website of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) is www.dra.gov.pk. This website has been designed in a very short span of time of only three months after the establishment of DRAP on 12th November, 2012. It is a dynamic and interactive site which will be updated on day to day basis.

This website shall be beneficial for the public, press, manufactures, investors, exporters and foreign agencies alike. Contains downloadable information related to drug laws, import and export, policies, quality controls and drug specifications, Side Effects reporting by public.

The Minister also gave the vision about the future development and updated the participants that in the next phase they will go for automation of the whole process of drug regulation including licensing, registration, quality control, etc. Receipt of information and its processing to prevent the mass damaging incidents like PIC and Tyno syrup in future.
